One Block Wonder - SUMMERVILLE
This technique will show you how to make a one-of-a-kind quilt project!
Instead of starting with a specific pattern or design and trying to match fabric(s) to that, here you will start with the fabric. Once the pieces are cut, you will begin sewing half-hexagons and begin arranging them by columns. NO “Y” SEAMS with this project! Once you are comfortable with the basic introduction of making One Block Wonder: you can go on to add cubes, octagons, 4-patches, and more!
This class will be lecture/demo in the morning and then we will begin the cutting process. You will not have a completed top in class, but will learn the techniques needed to complete the top on your own.
Materials Needed: Enough fabric to have 6 complete repeats (if you need help picking fabric, stop in to the shop!), One-Block Wonders Book by Maxine Rosenthal (included in class fee)
Tools Needed: FLAT flower head pins; SHARP rotary cutter (60 mm recommended); 24” ruler; 60 degree triangle ruler with point; thread to match chosen fabric
